Agnihotra
What is the Agnihotra ?
The Agnihotra is a non religious fire ritual performed daily at sunrise & sunset by individuals, expressing gratitude to the SUN., who is the visible god in our Universe. We live in the solar system, and the least we can do is to offer our prayers of gratitude to the Universal father, the SUN.
When we are in this state of gratitude towards the SUN, we start observing his nature of being so selfless towards one and all. The SUN gracefully shines offering his brilliance & radiance to one and all - be it black or white, animate or inanimate, living or non living, plants, trees, good, bad, tall, thin, young or old, etc. As we are regular in practice of offering the prayers to our beloved SUN, we start imbibing his qualities of being NON-JUDGMENTAL. Each day we observe qualities of the SUN God, and start accepting those qualities as part of us.
Who can perform the Agnihotra ?
People who perform the ritual regularly are called Agnihotris. Just about anyone can perform the Agnihotra, there are no restrictions of caste, creed or sex.
I presume that in the past, there may have been Agnihotris for each small village. They were the environmentalists who were dedicated to their act of performing the ritual along with the rising and setting sun dedicating benefits to one and all living in a radius of 30 kilometers around them.
What is the purpose of performing the Agnihotra ?
The benefits of the Agnihotra are enormous and cannot be listed, but sharing some information from personal experience, and mostly from the guidance of our Agnihotra Guru, Sri Vijesh ji.
1. The ritual brings about discipline in our lives, the importance of sleep and waking on time are well understood and practiced.
2. Opens the heart, agnya & sahasra chakras which otherwise remain closed in most people. (Understanding chakras with astrological planets will be shared separately).
3. It purifies our thoughts, simultaneously purifies our surroundings. It creates a magnetic field that neutralizes any kind of negative energy, and brings about subtle positive changes in and around us.
4. The generation of NO2 aids in enhancing the function of the circulatory system, improving the quality of the blood, improving blood flow - enhancing brain function too.
5. Radiance - improves vision & skin quality.
6. Removes the stress causing factors, enhances EASE in our lives.
7. Neutralizes the effect of radio activity and perverse energy.
8. Researchers have found the instantaneous effects on agriculture & farming. We have personally experienced plants growing better at home after Agnihotra.
9. Children start performing better in school, as the discipline and focus has increased.
10. The body feels happy, the Solar plexus is now in tune with the Solar system.
Why do we invoke the Sun through the Agnihotra at Sunrise?
At Sunrise, the Ultra
Violet Rays are the most healthy for the human body.
The UV Rays have the
Seven VIBGYOR Colours and only four of them touch the earth.
SUN
The Sun is the only God visible to human eyes.
The Sun is the provider of light.
It is because of the darkness that the presence and warmth of light can be felt.
This light is the very light of our existence.
The center point of our Solar system.
The light is the remover of darkness. Remover of ignorance.
Illumination, enlightenment with increased awareness.
The remaining three do
not touch the earth surface. They reach only to a range 15 kms above the
earth.
The pyramid shaped
Havan Kund with three steps like shape is so designed in shape and dimension to
invite the three rays otherwise not reachable, to the earth
surface.
And those three
colours are GREEN VIOLET AND INDIGO.
What do the VIBGYOR or 7 colours represent in our human body.?
The represent the
chakra system.
The Red represents the
Muladhara or Root or Base Chakra.
Orange represents the
Hara or Creativity chakra
Yellow represents the
Manipura or Solar plexus.
Green represents the
heart chakra
Blue represents the
Visudhi or throat chakra
Indigo represents the
Agya Chakra
When are the VIBGYOR Colours visible to human eye?
Why do we use a copper vessel for the Agnihotra. ?
Copper is a conductor
of electricity and helps communicate with the environment. In the olden days they used Gold Havan Kund, which has a different dimension for accelerating the process .
What are the materials needed for the Agnihotra?
A copper pyramid shape
Havan Kund with a Base stand. It's called the KASI
HAVAN KUND
A small copper cup to
hold the cows ghee.
A small tiny copper
plate to keep cleaned rice and mix with ghee, and divide in two portions.
Dried cowdung, called Gauri in hindi, Veratti in Tamil
Arasa kuchi or peepal
sticks
Camphor

Place the Square cow

The next piece of
Cowdung on the right hand top corner.

one in centre.
Get ready for the Agnihotra ten minutes before the stipulated time.
Prepare the Havan kund
as per the directions and light the camphor and push the lit camphor to the
centre bottom with the Udrini or spoon.
Then take two pinches
of Raw Rice between your ring , middle finger and thumb of right hand and place
on left palm.
With right forefinger,
clean the rice. Remove the unhealthy and broken rice. Only whole rice grains
must remain in the left palm.
Place right palm over left and place this cupped hands over right
thigh ready to take Sankalpam. Then open fingers and lock again. This
releases the air and creates vacuum and then intend your Sankalpam well.
After Sankalpam put the rice in the small copper plate and mix with
ghee with forefinger of right hand and divine into two portions.
On the dot of Sunrise or sunset as the case may be recite the
mantra. With each Swaaha , put the ghee mixed rice into the fire.
After this keep chanting the mantras you know and look into the
flames.
After completion of the Agnihotra, looking at the palms recite the
mantras in the morning and evening respectively.

The amazing flames pick your energies so well at times you will
wonder how your thoughts are visible in the flames. Gazing into the flames does wonders to activate our pineal gland.
The Pineal gland is activated through the eyes. Looking into the flames
improves eyesight, enhances concentration, ...
As the fire goes off gently close your eyes fixing your gaze on the tip
of your nose. Be aware of your breath.
Gently shift focus to
the centre of the forehead. Continue to breathe. Deep inhales. Longer exhales.
When with Guruji, we
will have a music on for meditation. Otherwise just be in awareness and
meditate. You can use any music for meditation that appeals you.
The Nitride Oxide generated from the Agnihotra is best assimilated
by our human body in the first 24 minutes. So ideal to be seated there for 24
minutes from Sunrise or Sunset.
When should we remove the Ashes from the Havan kund, after the Agnihotra?
The copper Havan Kund
will cool down very quickly. Children should beware and should not touch to
check if cool. Allow an hour or two. Then transfer the Ashes to a glass
container.
What can we do with the Ashes from the Agnihotra?
STORAGE - After they are cooled
they can be stored in a glass container.
USES
1. Apply on area of
skin rashes or allergic reaction. This is like a first aid kit. Works
instantaneous.
2. Use for plants that
appear unhealthy or withering. This will help revive such plants.
4. Apply on forehead
as Vibhuthi.
5. Share with friends
and others who have plants and gardens and are not in the habit of performing the Agnihotra.
Avoid saying THANK You, but always remaining in Gratitude
Be in gratitude, and use the word Hari Om instead of the word Thank
you. Apply in personal life. Feel the difference. Share your experience.
Vijeshji says - using the word thank you stresses the Throat or Visudhi chakra.
Cleaning the Havan Kund
Can we clean our Havan kund by scrubbing with soap and washing with
water?
Best not to do such an
act. You can wipe with a soft tissue when needed. Do not scrub with soap or
wash with water. Reasons will be known in advanced stages of practice.
What are the side effects of the Agnihotra?
Goodness and Goodness
can only prevail in and around one who does the Agnihotra. There are no negative
effects of the Agnihotra. You can't go wrong if you do it right. It's as simple
as that.
Gurukulam
In the olden days
every child was sent to the Gurukul Ashram, where he would have to learn to
lead a disciplined life. And the basis of this
disciplining, the first step was and is the Agnihotra.
One who does the
Agnihotra regularly becomes aware and enlightened with information. If 90 days seems to long a time, start with 21 days.
Experience the benefits of the 21 days ritual and then go on to the 90 day
programming to be self motivated.
How long must one practice the Agnihotra?
A steady practice of 3
months, ie, 90 days is the ideal to start with as advised by our Guruji.
Why practice for a minimum period of 90 days without a break in the practice ?
Do you remember the basic information we learnt in school regarding red blood cell regeneration ?
Then you would remember that it takes 45 days for the blood to generate, some information on the net also says it takes 56 days.
Are we aware of when this 45 days cycle would have started and when it's going to end? Obviously No.
So when we practice for a period of 90 days with steadfast determination we are bound to go through one cycle of regeneration at least within the period of 90 days.
And the benefits of the chemical process that happens during the Agnihotra -
Improves the atmosphere
Increases clarity and happiness in and around
Enhances the fertility of the soil
The Agnihotra Ash for medicinal use.
One teaspoon of Ash
can be mixed with nine teaspoons of cows ghee . And this becomes an ointment to
use. Great Medicinal value.
What should one NOT DO while performing the Agnihotra. ?
1. Once the fire is
lit 5 minutes before the stipulated time, make adjustments only within the 5
minutes . Once the Sun rise or set time is on then do not try adjusting the
flame or pouring additional ghee , camphor etc. Just remain in silence.
2. Do not allow your
thoughts or eyes to wander. Just look into the flames.
Whom all can I pray for during the Agnihotra. ?
You can pray for the
welfare of just about anybody.
You don't need to
state the reason etc. Just the name of the person is enough.
You can pray for your
friends, family, colleagues, pets, instruments, and top priority for your
enemies.
When you name a person you consider your
enemy in the Agnihotra, the person is healed alongside you and no longer
remains an enemy. Always remember - Healing is not fixing, Healing is making one feel whole and complete - balanced.
Conclusion
Again, the AGNIHOTRA, a non religious fire ritual which can be
performed by one and all has multiple benefits.
The mantras,
which are an expression of gratitude to the SUN, who being non judgmental radiates its brilliance on one and all, is free and open for usage of one and
all.
Practicing the Agnihotra is and act wherein we can return the act of goodness to Mother Nature.
Information shared is as per the information we have received from our Master Vijeshji. There are many research evidences available with the Germans who have successfully documented the same. In Australia, the use of the Agnihotra Homa - has helped farmers improve their crop yields too. TRY it for yourself to believe it.
P S: Spreading the awareness of this science, increasing the number of practitioners will help recreate a STRESS-FREE Environment. The purity of the ingredients used is very important. Would appreciate inputs on the availability of the following products :-
